Ian_Lee Posted December 29, 2004 at 02:32 AM Report Share Posted December 29, 2004 at 02:32 AM Does anybody notice that Mainland and Taiwan label X'mas differently? Mainland and HK/Macau call it 圣诞 (聖誕) (The Birthday of a Saint [Jesus Christ]) while Taiwan calls it 耶誕 (The Birthday of Jesus). It looks like Mainland society is more christianized. gato Posted December 29, 2004 at 03:13 AM Report Share Posted December 29, 2004 at 03:13 AM I like 基誕 because 基督 = Christ. Nice pun, too (Ji Dan4).
in_lab Posted December 29, 2004 at 04:37 AM Report Share Posted December 29, 2004 at 04:37 AM I see both in Taiwan, but most often it's 聖誕. Why do you think the Mainland is more Christianized?
