New Members rntl Posted October 17, 2011 at 09:28 AM New Members Report Share Posted October 17, 2011 at 09:28 AM I keep seeing 花心头菜 all over Youku and other Chinese video sites - especially when viewing children animated series. For example: http://v.youku.com/v...c0NDg5ODg0.html I've tried looking this term up in my dictionary as well as several online dictionaries - no one seems to have a definition for this term. Anybody here knows?
Peter2010 Posted October 17, 2011 at 10:12 AM Report Share Posted October 17, 2011 at 10:12 AM That means nothing but someone (probably the uploader)'s screen name.
MaLaTang Posted October 17, 2011 at 11:24 AM Report Share Posted October 17, 2011 at 11:24 AM in my experience, when it seems to make absolutely no sense, it usually is the name of a person, product, brand name, or place. yes it is frustrating
Erbse Posted October 17, 2011 at 12:48 PM Report Share Posted October 17, 2011 at 12:48 PM That leaves the question, what does this name mean? A play of words? A reference to something else? Does it just sound good?
Lost in Mong Kok Posted October 17, 2011 at 02:37 PM Report Share Posted October 17, 2011 at 02:37 PM In Cantonese the term 花心 is as it sounds, flower heart, but is sometimes used in a negative sense followed by the term "lor baat" (I'm not sure of the characters and didn't want to write 蘿蔔). Its a derogatory term for someone who is a bit of a player with the ladies. However, this seems to literally say "flower heard head vegetable" which like everyone says is probably more of a screen name than a hidden meaning.
