English:http://www.leehomaus.com/

(sorry can't post the exact link, my computer is in a bad mood and won't open the site...since i installed msn messenger...the English article is on this site i think)

I just read about 王力宏s new CD called Shangri-La. Apparently he has developed a new style of music called 'chinked-out'...

Has anyone heard the new songs? What do you think?

And the concept... you can read about it through the links... Do you think it will be popular?...Is it just a marketing tool or a real trend in music?

And, of course, is this term 'chinked-out' acceptable to you?

晚安!

(Edited this cos I made a lot of mistakes cos my computer kept on crashing. Also, took out this 'chinked out' phrase from the title...hope I didn't upset anyone. )

新專輯真好聽 是他最好的專輯 覺得心中的日月很特別 我很喜歡過來竹林深處那兩首歌 我整天聽到那張專輯 越聽越喜歡

但是我相信心中的日月不要改變華語音樂 華語音樂總是很特別 如果聽到林俊傑的江南一定發現那首歌是中式的 也可以聽到周華健的刀劍如夢或周傑倫的東風破 不過我不喜歡那個生詞叫chinked out

His new album is really great. I think it's his best one. I listen to it all day long, and like it more and more. I personally favor the songs 過來 and 竹林深處 But I think his music won't change Chinese music that much, because Chinese music always has been very special, very 'chinked out'. For example 林俊傑 江南. Nevertheless, I don't like the word 'chinked out'.

可以去到這裏

Hello! I think your English is great, don't worry.

When I first read about the use of this term, I was surprised...I think his idea is good, but I don't like the term. But then sometimes it's possible to change the connotation of a word, for example as with the word 'gay'.

Here's an article in English about the new album.

And here's an interview in English with Wang Lee Hom...it tells us his blood group too which could be handy if you ever need to give him a blood transfusion  ???

According to the Taipei Times WLH said

"Chinese pop music does not have a strong enough sonic identity." As a result the pop idol has opted to "create a sound that is international and at the same time Chinese." Something that he has dubbed "chinked-out."

Wang may well have set out to, as he puts it, "create a new vibe the whole world can identify with as being Chinese," but the result is far from pleasing.

'Chink' is not such a nice word, but I think when Chinese themself say it, it is ok. It would just be offending when a white or black or whatever calls a Chinese chink.

What I think is special about this album, is that 王力宏 mixes the sound of Chinese folk music with HipHop and R'n'B. Modern Chinese-style songs mostly are pop songs.

Have you bought his album? I think what is really nice is his bonus vcd (王力宏雲藏采風音樂實錄).

BTW, Happy New Year

雞年快樂
