does "read and write" exist as a single verb 寫看 ?

It comes spontaneously when I type "xiekan" in Google Pinyin Input, but then the automatic corrector of my Taiwanese OS underline it in green in Word (for grammatical inconsistencies).

Any bilingual helper out there to settle the problem ?

It does but not the way you wrote it. Read and write is 读写

Sometimes electronic tools just aren't enough (see, my pop-up dictionary Zhongwen for Google Chrome only displays the definition "to fill out a form" for this word) !
