I've heard of some of the bigger chinese/taiwanese singers like faye wong, amei and coco lee but I'm not sure who sings in mandarin and I can't really tell the difference between dialects yet ^_^ I was wondering if anyone could recommend any mandarin singers I could try listening too. 多谢，杰声。 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But I find songs to be quite a good addition to study. When not actually in China, good material to practice listening is not easy to come by, and the texts that come with my books are boring at best, more commonly frustrating. The drawback about songs is that keys are even more difficult to learn, but I find them to be very helpful to identify certain commonly used disyllabic words (if you listen to Mandopop, you'll have mastered 爱情 and 哭泣 in a sec!). As to songs, I listen to a whole variety, favorites being Andy Lau (not recommendable for language study, though), Zhang Huimei, the occasioall Faye Wong... I used Wenlin to convert to pinyin and segment by words but offered multiple choices in some cases. Not too worried about tone sandhi or interjectons, only if there are obvious errors. Jolin Tsai/蔡依林, his former girlfriend is also very famous. I love them both. 王蓉 I like better than the above two, but most people like those two best.
