So mainly I am an artist interested in Chinese tradition and lately calligraphy and writing. I am not intending to really learn it (or pretend to lol) but I'd love to see a calligraphic way of writing some of the following words: Silence Freedom Free Wild Black Blue Feather Wing Strenght/Power Star Moon Sea/Ocean Water Pain Wave (Sea)shell Fairy Spirit Blossom Art ohhh and my name, what is it written like in chinese traditional AND simplified and some calligraphy. My name is: Lia (Lee-a(h) maybe?) Is there anyone who is willing to help? If you want to see what I am doing to see if I am worth the efford take a look at seafairy.com Thanks soooooo much in advance! -Lia

confucius Posted March 16, 2005 at 08:39 AM Report Share Posted March 16, 2005 at 08:39 AM It is pronounced like "lee-ya" and is typed using simplified characters. I can not help you with calligraphy, but any cook inside a Chinese restaurant in Germany or Austria will be happy to write and pronounce it for you. For fairy, I suggest the following translation: 飞天 which means "apsara" and is usually used with reference to the cave drawings at Dunhuang. Good luck! Best wishes, Confucius
