Cat Jones Posted August 29, 2013 at 05:25 AM Report Share Posted August 29, 2013 at 05:25 AM Hi all, What's the normal process to resign from a job in China? By letter as is standard in the UK? Or face-to-face? I have no idea what the norm is here, and I don't want to offend or upset anyone by fluffing it up. Any advice welcome!! icebear Posted August 29, 2013 at 12:29 PM Report Share Posted August 29, 2013 at 12:29 PM You're contract should spell it out - i.e. if notice is required 30 days in advance, provide a formal letter. Whether you have a letter or not you should break the news in a one-on-one meeting with your boss (then hand over the letter).
Lu Posted August 29, 2013 at 01:07 PM Report Share Posted August 29, 2013 at 01:07 PM Not sure what the rules are, but if I were you I would formally tell my boss and ask him/her what you need to do. You can also ask the HR person at your company, if there is any (but only after telling your boss of course). Congratulations on the new job! Geray Posted August 29, 2013 at 02:50 PM Report Share Posted August 29, 2013 at 02:50 PM you can have a talk with your boss, describe your reason. As normal ,if your boss don't want you to leave,he will try to retain you, and will say "you are important to the company...", and so on. Then you persist in yourself for a while ,he will agree. Next you can submit an official resignation in the company's OA system. After about 30 days , OA system will complete through, and then you can leave the company.
