Shelley Posted April 17, 2014 at 03:07 PM Report Share Posted April 17, 2014 at 03:07 PM Finally updated my tablet. Yeah What I would like to do is move my paid for add ons to my tablet and keep a free version on my phone. If I use my Registration number on my new device will this work? or do I need a new number? And then if I delete my phone version and then reinstall a new version with no paid add ons? Thanks
mikelove Posted April 17, 2014 at 06:59 PM Report Share Posted April 17, 2014 at 06:59 PM Yes - if you bought originally on Android then you don't even need to deactivate it on the old device.

mikelove Posted April 17, 2014 at 08:49 PM Report Share Posted April 17, 2014 at 08:49 PM That's only licensed for use on one device at a time, so in that case you'd want to deactivate it on the old phone and then activate it on the new one - same ID. fabiothebest Posted April 18, 2014 at 03:36 PM Report Share Posted April 18, 2014 at 03:36 PM Ok, that is possible because both his phone and tablet run Android. But if he had Android and then got an iOS device it wouldn't be possible to transfer the license (while from iOS to Android it is possible), right? I read this on the website. Any news about supporting license transfer from Android to iOS even if it's not written on the website yet? I know transferring licenses is a favour Pleco does to us, anyway if it's possible from IOS to Android, why isn't it possible from Android to iOS? Any cost problem? mikelove Posted April 18, 2014 at 06:48 PM Report Share Posted April 18, 2014 at 06:48 PM It's basically because Apple doesn't want us circumventing their store, which we'd be doing by transferring an Android license to iOS. Google doesn't particularly want us doing that either, but since it's also possible to install Android apps outside of their store and since in any event a growing % of Android devices (Xiaomi, Amazon, etc) aren't running Google services at all, we don't have to worry / care so much about that - they're not in a position to stop us. We normally do Android-to-iOS transfers by having you re-purchase on iOS and then refunding you for your Android purchase - contact support to see if that's an option. (it almost always is) We're continuing to work on this both from the Apple and the licensing ends - personally I'm an iOS fan and would much rather have Android-to-iOS be easier than iOS-to-Android, and with Apple's expected release of a larger-screen iPhone this fall the early indication from customers is that we're going to have a LOT of Android-to-iOS switchers on our hands then, so hopefully soon we'll be able to better streamline it. fabiothebest Posted April 18, 2014 at 07:21 PM Report Share Posted April 18, 2014 at 07:21 PM Thanks for the answer. I have Pleco on my Android phone, maybe I'll switch to iphone when the new model comes out and I'd like to buy the Basic or the Professional bundle sooner or later, so I was trying to understand whether it was better for me to wait and purchase it when I'll own an iphone or buy the bundle on Android now and transfer the license to the iphone later if possible. So if it's possible to have a refund I'll consider purchasing the bundle sooner.
mikelove Posted April 18, 2014 at 07:32 PM Report Share Posted April 18, 2014 at 07:32 PM If you buy from our online store (pleco.com/store/) it's definitely possible to refund it later - it's usually possible with a Google Play in-app purchase too, but we can't guarantee that Google's policies on that front won't change at some point, so we always recommend that anybody considering this buy from our store since it's the only one we entirely control. fabiothebest Posted April 18, 2014 at 07:38 PM Report Share Posted April 18, 2014 at 07:38 PM Thanks, if buying from Pleco online store is the safest way, I'll choose that.
Shelley Posted April 20, 2014 at 02:03 PM Author Report Share Posted April 20, 2014 at 02:03 PM Just to let you know i successfully installed Pleco on my new tablet and wow it is soooooooooo much better on a big screen. Seems like I have discovered stuff it can do that i didn't know about on the small screen of my phone. I am thinking of adding the character stroke package, i will go and have a look on the website. Thanks for transferring license, it really helps.
