Some interesting points: 從音節結構看,廣州話口語保留較多古漢語單音節詞,如「飲」(喝)、「食」(吃)、「著」(穿)、「頸」(脖子)、「頭」(腦袋)等,這些詞在北方口語中,或改換為另外的單音節詞,或轉化為雙音節詞。 從構詞法看,廣州話較少北方方言的「子」、「兒」尾,而較多名詞字首「阿」,如「阿爺」(父親)、「阿大」(老大)。字首「阿」在古漢語中便有,而「子」、「兒」則屬於後起的語綴。 廣州話還保留了一些古代書面語詞和文化詞,如「卒之」(終於)、「適值」(恰逢)、「抑或」(還是,表示選擇),文化詞如「文」(元)、「毫」(角)。香港粵語因其特殊的環境和歷史,一些涉及古代政治、文化方面的古詞也得以沿用,如「提堂」(開庭)、「監倉」(監獄)、「辦館」(大的雜貨店)等。 一些輕唇音字白讀為重唇,反映「古無輕唇音」的特點,如「浮」文讀為fu(浮動),白讀為pou (浮頭);「婦」文讀為fu(婦女),白讀為pou(新婦)。 粵人喜好創制新字,聞名全國。但這常帶來問題,即新字可能將本字掩蓋。如「豬肝」的「肝」與「乾」字同音,意頭不好,故需避諱,說成「豬潤」(「潤」即有水)或「豬濕」(陽江話)。但豬肝屬肉類,寫成「潤」、「濕」形旁不符,因此廣府人為此造了個「」字,陽江人則造出「」字。類似的例子還有「豬」來自「豬利」(避「豬舌」,「舌」與「蝕」同音)。 I didn't know tongue () was *created* that way.
