New Members idasee93 Posted August 22, 2014 at 07:55 AM New Members Report Share Posted August 22, 2014 at 07:55 AM What I'm wondering is what rights I get if I marry a Chinese man. How long could I stay in China and would I be able to go there and get a job?
liuzhou Posted August 23, 2014 at 03:50 PM Report Share Posted August 23, 2014 at 03:50 PM Basically none. You would be able to get a family visit visa, but that does not allow you to work legally.

James3 Posted August 23, 2014 at 07:19 PM Report Share Posted August 23, 2014 at 07:19 PM So, if a woman from another country marries a Chinese man (who is from China, and still lives there) and she moves to China to be with him, she can't work legally? anonymoose Posted August 23, 2014 at 07:21 PM Report Share Posted August 23, 2014 at 07:21 PM She can if she gets a work visa. But being married to a Chinese person has no bearing on getting a work visa.
James3 Posted August 23, 2014 at 07:25 PM Report Share Posted August 23, 2014 at 07:25 PM Ah, that makes sense. Well, is there such a thing as it being any easier for her to get a work visa, than if she wasn't married to a Chinese man? And is the length of the visa any longer, than if she wasn't married to a Chinese? Or, perhaps, there's absolutely no affect at all? (Which is I think what you're saying...) anonymoose Posted August 23, 2014 at 07:48 PM Report Share Posted August 23, 2014 at 07:48 PM It's not easier because the work visa is organised through the company that she intends to work for, and the length is also determined by the length of employment, though, as far as I know, the maximum length is one year, so longer-term employment requires yearly visa extensions. Regulations change constantly though.
Matty Posted August 24, 2014 at 07:15 AM Report Share Posted August 24, 2014 at 07:15 AM Pretty much being married will get you the equivalent of a long term tourist visa. Nothing particularly special at all.
