If your wife has a P.R. China passort and wants to go to Taiwan, that could be a real trouble because of the reason you may have already known.

Go and check:

It's certainly possible. There's a window in Chiang Kai Shek Int'l airport on arrival for PRC passport holders (it's to the right as you come down the stairs in the old terminal - right near the money changers)

It's probably best to talk directly to the Taiwan Bureau of Consular Affairs.
