tooironic Posted March 31, 2015 at 09:32 AM Author Report Share Posted March 31, 2015 at 09:32 AM My definition of 'cheeky grin' is what I wrote in my original post. 賤賤的笑 is not a bad translation. When I baidu it, this is one of the images that comes up: I have often seen my Chinese male friends strike this kind of (cheeky) pose. Kenny同志 Posted March 31, 2015 at 11:18 AM Report Share Posted March 31, 2015 at 11:18 AM Consider 壞笑 for the translation of a cheeky grin.
陳德聰 Posted April 1, 2015 at 12:51 AM Report Share Posted April 1, 2015 at 12:51 AM Cheeky and 贱 are only close for me if we're talking about the amusing somewhat positive 贱 and not the negative catty one. The picture in #21 is not my idea of cheeky, because cheeky tends to lean closer to "wry" for me than it does "playful".
