Before I came to USA, I taught math in a university in China. But now I have to teach my son Chinese since he did not learn well in Chinese schools. I tried many ways in teaching him Chinese at home. Gradually I gathered a lot of experience and built a Chinese learning website for him to learn everyday. He is very happy to use it. I am not a good tech guy. But the site does present my thinking of how to learn Chinese: (1) You need to tool (pinyin) to help you (2) You HAVE to learn Chinese characters to learn Chinese well. So I introduce it early. (3) Build you vocab slowly and firmly through lessons and exercises. (4) Learn from each other and practice as much as you can. Take a tour. Hope it will also help you!
