can foreign students work in china?

im gonna attend BLCU for at least a semester this Fall. am I allowed to work for the duration? do i need any extra permission to work? and where can i look for jobs in beijing online? i have an EE degree and i do a lot of programming.

You can't legally work on a student visa. If you're asking if people do work as students then that's another story. I think it's typically teaching English classes, though, and not doing engineering and development work.

There are a lot of Chinese folks that they could pay peanuts to do that kind of work....hate to say it, but you could probably make better money teaching English and the jobs are plentiful.

The largest website in China for technical jobs is http://english.zhaopin.com/ejobseeker/index.jsp

Most of the listings are full-time positions and only for Chinese residents. You could start there, though.
