munterberg Posted November 1, 2016 at 09:03 AM Report Share Posted November 1, 2016 at 09:03 AM When I lived in Beijing I remember watching a TV show where there was a Chinese moderator team along with maybe 10 or so foreigners who lightheartedly discussed Chinese culture (in Chinese). In the episode I watched for example, they discussed Chinese vs Western bosses. It was overall quite funny to watch, but I can't for the life of me remember the name. Someone knows? Luxi Posted November 1, 2016 at 02:43 PM Report Share Posted November 1, 2016 at 02:43 PM CCTV TV 4's 《快乐汉语》 ("Happy Chinese") is along those lines, 2 competing 老外 teams showing their proficiency in Chinese culture and language. The moderators are usually Chinese teachers. It isn't always discussing, sometimes has games or other tasks like performing some martial arts 武术. http://tv.cctv.com/2016/10/31/VIDEK711yORf5KHcuQP3AOb4161031.shtml It's quite instructive and entertaining. Not sure what time it's broadcast in China but should be easy to find. (edited to add a couple of useful links) This page has a good introduction to the program: http://tv.cctv.com/lm/klhy/ And here you have 44 pages of catch-up http://tv.cctv.com/lm/klhy/videoset/

ZhangKaiRong Posted November 6, 2016 at 12:03 PM Report Share Posted November 6, 2016 at 12:03 PM Though it's not from the mainland, some episodes of 康熙来了 feature foreigners discussing life in Taiwan, comparing it to their own home countries. It's not 普通话, but 国语,howevermy experience is that you can still understand what they are talking about, as there are only minor differences. All the episodes are uploaded to Youtube, you can check if you're interested.

happy_hyaena Posted July 16, 2017 at 01:54 AM Report Share Posted July 16, 2017 at 01:54 AM 世界青年说 has changed its format, but it's still very enjoyable. I honestly think they have great chemistry, are genuinely funny and I've come to like how the Chinese edit their reality shows. 韩冰 (representing Thailand) was in my housing building when I was at 南大, so I would watch the series one night and then watch him furiously chopping vegetables in the communal kitchen the next morning Some of them are pretty cool and accomplished as well: 孟天 (US) sang during the CCTV New Year's Gala, 普雅 (Iran) is a child genius who moved to China with his parents took classes with them, 大卫 (Russia) also speaks Japanese, 安龙 (Australia) did a one hand stand-backflip once just randomly...
