nipponman Posted August 5, 2005 at 01:31 PM Report Share Posted August 5, 2005 at 01:31 PM Firstly, are these two just variants of each other? Secondly, has anyone ever heard of the fact that 砲 was actually written as 石+馬+交? That would be really cool to write it that way:D . Any help would be appreciated, nipponman
nipponman Posted August 5, 2005 at 01:34 PM Author Report Share Posted August 5, 2005 at 01:34 PM Actually, there is a picture here: http://www.unicode.org/cgi-bin/GetUnihanData.pl?codepoint=792E&useutf8=false. So are these just variants, or what? I searched the "Ancient chinese forms" site and got nothing.
TaijiMantis Posted August 5, 2005 at 05:56 PM Report Share Posted August 5, 2005 at 05:56 PM 一样的。 砲一般用在象棋里面,一方是炮,一方是砲。现在很少了。 至于礮,繁体字。

skylee Posted August 6, 2005 at 01:46 AM Report Share Posted August 6, 2005 at 01:46 AM nipponman, haven't you noticed 裏/裡 and 着/著 yet?
889 Posted August 6, 2005 at 03:06 AM Report Share Posted August 6, 2005 at 03:06 AM You should have the character in your font: 礮
nipponman Posted August 7, 2005 at 01:32 AM Author Report Share Posted August 7, 2005 at 01:32 AM Actually sky, I have, and I only write the left characters. But I see 炮 and 砲 in traditional. I only see 裡 , 著 in traditional (rarely I will see 裏, unless I'm reading Japanese)It is strange. 礮 is not in my font system though, it is not in CQuickTrans or NJStar. skylee Posted August 7, 2005 at 02:19 AM Report Share Posted August 7, 2005 at 02:19 AM I only write the left characters. I use 裏 and 着. But do note that 著 (zhu4) has meanings other than those of 着 (zhe, zhuo2, zhao1, zhao2).

Luckily, in Japanese we have both!nipponman
