Chinese Embassy In Hong Kong Took My Visa Documents. Is This A Good Sign?

I  am American who has been hired to teach English in China. I am in Hong Kong and applied for my work visa this morning at the embassy in wanchai. I had all the documents stamped by the federal bureau, etc. The lady who took my paperwork said having a new passport (2017) was ok. But I am still unsure.

Do you think my visa will be approved?

I don't think anyone here can tell you that, only the relevant authorities can. Accepting your paperwork is a necessary first step in getting your visa, so in that sense it's a good sign: the first step has been taken succesfully. Did they tell you when to pick up the visa? That's when you'll know for sure.

Good luck!
