Mandarin tone sandhi

It will depend on how the words are formed. Generally, all the third tones will become rising tones except the last one, as long as the characters belong together. See this thread.

BTW, I disagree with the advice to not learn tones. Speaking without tones is usually understandable, but it will give you a very thick accent. You will not learn them through osmosis, unless you're a child growing up in a Chinese environment.
