Quick translation needed please...

 It says 国民党忠贞奖章, oddly in simplified characters, which means something like KMT medal for loyalty. here's a baidu page: https://baike.baidu.com/item/忠贞奖章 which makes it sound like it worked like the US Purple Heart, given if injured in action, but the pic looks quite different and i do wonder about those simplified characters.

Yes, that was my first thought. ETA And I'd expect them to run right to left too though obviously that's not definite.

The Chinese reads 解放西藏纪念 "Commemoration of the Liberation of Tibet" and there's Tibetan text underneath which I presume says the same - I actually took a few Tibetan classes back in the day but sadly have no chance of reading much now, and can't spot the word for Tibet which I would still recognise though think it would come at the bit that's blurrier and illegible to the right.
