New Members Icesharpey Posted June 1, 2018 at 11:13 AM New Members Report Share Posted June 1, 2018 at 11:13 AM Hello everyone. So as I see there seem to be many teachers, or students - what would you say is the best android app to learn some conversational Chinese + a bit of vocabulary / everyday sentences etc? The Chinese language seems to be a very difficult language to learn, many say it takes over 5 years - and not even fluent after that. I am not looking to write, but speak some, understand some. Thank you in advance.

Shelley Posted June 1, 2018 at 04:12 PM Report Share Posted June 1, 2018 at 04:12 PM I would also recommend HelloChinese. It is very good for speaking and listening but also for reading and writing which although you say you don't want to do, I would suggest you at least become familiar with the characters as it is very useful. Welcome to the Forum! Does you mission have a focus? For example, will you mainly be using Chinese as a tourist?

abcdefg Posted June 3, 2018 at 03:33 AM Report Share Posted June 3, 2018 at 03:33 AM See if this might be of some help: https://wikitravel.org/en/Chinese_phrasebook Lonely Planet has something similar. I don't have access to the Google Play Store to look for actual apps. (It is blocked by the Great Firewall for those of us inside China.) Someone who is currently overseas might be able to help you with that.
