I know that the character 说 can be pronounced shuì when it means 'try to persuade', but my dictionaries all list the pronunciation as shuōfú... and yet I've only ever heard it pronounced shuìfú in real life (which, I should add, was only on 2 occasions... once by a native Cantonese speaker with a Mandarin high school education, and once in a 梁静茹 song... This version is at least easier to remember. PS: a brief search around indicated "shuōfú" to be the standard and I didn't see "shuìfú" anywhere.
