说服

Could anyone tell me what the 'correct' (if there is just one correct) pronunciation for 说服 is? I know that the character 说 can be pronounced shuì when it means 'try to persuade', but my dictionaries all list the pronunciation as shuōfú... and yet I've only ever heard it pronounced shuìfú in real life (which, I should add, was only on 2 occasions... once by a native Cantonese speaker with a Mandarin high school education, and once in a 梁静茹 song... Maybe it's just these crazy Malaysians  ).

So which is it: shuōfú or shuìfú? :-?

I'd take "shuōfú" as the one to learn to use, until some authority corrects me. This version is at least easier to remember.

PS: a brief search around indicated "shuōfú" to be the standard and I didn't see "shuìfú" anywhere. It seems "说" can therefore be read as both "shuō" and "shuì", but 说服 can only as "shuōfú" .
