Does anyone have any personal experiences in getting the iPGCE?

I have not done it but i have two colleagues who did it. One has QTS (They paid for them to fly out here) and one does not. It’s currently widely accepted here. Some schools will even hire you and pay for you to do it while you’re working there. I know even “big” schools in Beijing have done this (British school, Dulwich). The same level of school will also help teachers get QTS and maybe pay for it. It is currently widely accepted here.

The OP should also be aware they can safely shrug and dismiss it. Get your certs, get decent experience at decent schools. China's as good a place to start or continue a teaching career as any, it seems to me. This is not 1998, when they let the likes of me in.

Just a reminder that not too long ago we had a discussion here about the stigma that sometimes attaches to some of those foreigners who teach some things in China. The OP should at least be aware of it.

Agree. That's why it's a no brainer to do the IB teaching route.
