bopomofo2 Posted September 17, 2005 at 06:09 AM Report Share Posted September 17, 2005 at 06:09 AM I wonder if there exists something like zhongwen.com, but for simplified (PRC) characters. More specifically, an online dictionary where I can find characters by radicals or by number of strokes. zhongwen.com also lists simplified characters, btw, but it doesn't let you search them using radicals or number of strokes. Thank you in advance.

chinesetools Posted September 17, 2005 at 11:59 PM Report Share Posted September 17, 2005 at 11:59 PM At http://www.mandarintools.com/chardict_u8.html you can look up characters by pinyin, radical/stroke, etc. You can also find other characters that share similar components. bopomofo2 Posted September 19, 2005 at 01:37 AM Author Report Share Posted September 19, 2005 at 01:37 AM Thanks chinesetools, The chardict on mandarintools.com looks great. Is there a version I can use offline, since my internet connection is not that great. Thank you very much.
TCcookie Posted September 21, 2005 at 04:22 AM Report Share Posted September 21, 2005 at 04:22 AM Sure, just download the "Dim Sum Chinese Reading Assistant." It's a really handy program that includes the dictionary, adsotrans-style mouseover translation, pinyin (with tone marks) input, character conversion, and pinyin notation, among other things. Oh, this is from Mandarintools.com, by the way.
Tom McCrossin Posted September 26, 2005 at 01:59 PM Report Share Posted September 26, 2005 at 01:59 PM Also check out EuroAsiaSoftware's talking dictionary. I typically use zhongwen and paperbacks, but it's not a bad tool (especially for free). It also relies on feedback from users to expand the dictionary. http://www.euroasiasoftware.com/english/chinese/dictionary/index.html - Tom Mc
