English-speaking vet in Beijing...?!

I don't have a dog, so I am not really well informed, but I got to know an Italian who arrived a week or two ago, bringing a dog. The poor animal had to stay in his cage (you know, the tiny one that you take on the plane) for several days because the Chinese officials did not accept the documents (even though legally, they were fine.)

Only through pulling some strings in Italy and China and some "fees" in the right places did he manage to get his dog back, after like three days of waiting. I don't know whether that is the case every time somebody brings a dog, but you might want to ascertain everything beforehand with the responsible Chinese authorities.

Hi Caitlin, I asked this question myself not too long ago and was helpfully directed to the following websites by a fellow forum member:

It seems from speaking to people I know that it's actually quite difficult in practice and you may want to consult an agent. Glitch is they usually charge around USD600-1000 per pet.
