Morse in Chinese?

I saw Wujiandao twice, and I think it's an awesome movie. But I wondered about something. In the movie, the undercover cop (Tony Leung) uses morse to communicate with his boss the police officer. Now I wonder, how does that work? There can't be a morse code for every character, that'd be totally impractical. Does anyone know?

The police in HK still use a lot a of English, plus it's only a movie, it's not real!!!

The morse code was a gambit to throw off the drug dealers. They were really communicating via telepathy.

That being said, this would be a great question to throw at the screenwriter.

One way is "Chinese Telegraph Code" where a character is converted to a 4 digit number with a massive table.

In lab: thanks, that was exactely the same question in that other forum. Although this list of codes doesn't look practical. You'd have to learn the whole list by heart to be able to use it for undercover work.
