My favorite is 猫头鹰, or "cat head eagle" for owl.

Also a favorite for me!  I am also a big fan of 面包车  bread (shaped) car = van


There is another thread from years ago on this forum about Chinese compound words with all the greatest hits, but I can't seem to find it.  I'm an intermediate student of Thai and compounding is big in that language as well.
