If they can but there are occasional problems, what are they - not all of them, I mean just some examples (if there are any)? Thanks in advance. Because cantonese speakers are taught standard written chinese-the same written chinese mandarin speakers are taught. Therefore, they can go back and forth. However, Cantonese speakers can read spoken mandarin, but mandarin speakers can't read spoken cantonese. Too many dialectal words in it.
