tobyiana Posted August 15, 2023 at 10:43 AM Report Share Posted August 15, 2023 at 10:43 AM I have an offer to study Chinese in Taipei. I am B2 level but am slightly apprehensive as I've only studied with simplified characters. Does anyone see this as a big issue?

Lu Posted August 15, 2023 at 03:58 PM Report Share Posted August 15, 2023 at 03:58 PM You'll learn traditional quite quickly. The learning curve is pretty short. Expect some confusion and extra effort in the first four weeks or so, after that you'll be fine, with only the occasional misunderstanding once in a while. Taiwan is a great country, good food, nice people. Go for it!
tobyiana Posted August 21, 2023 at 11:48 AM Author Report Share Posted August 21, 2023 at 11:48 AM Thanks really appreciate the advice. That's what I was thinking too. I've been to Taiwan before (but just not to study) and it's a place I feel I can really connect with: the people are so friendly and the food so delicious. I just wish it wasn't so hot and humid in the summer months :)
