I don't have any medical dictionaries in this country and I came across something that I can't translate or figure out.

腰椎间盘突出症

I hope someone can tell me how to say this in English. The only thing that I think it could be is a slipped disc, but I am not 100% sure. I know that can happen along any part of the spine, so why say 腰椎?

I think it should be :

lum·ba·go (lŭm-bā'gō)

n.

A painful condition of the lower back, as one resulting from muscle strain or a slipped disk.

[Late Latin lumbāgō, from Latin lumbus, loin.]

腰椎 = lumbar vertebra

Three different dictionaries list lumbago simply as 腰痛, not as 腰椎间盘突出症. Thusly, I am not inclinded to think it is. Any other ideas or suggestions?

Hey!

I found a PDF file with tons of medical phrases in it while I was searching for vocab on the net. If you want, I could email it to you!
