Desmond Posted October 24, 2005 at 08:59 AM Report Share Posted October 24, 2005 at 08:59 AM Hey guys, Does anybody know of any websites which will show the stroke order for characters (for any characters that I'm unsure of how to write). Thanks!

dalaowai Posted October 24, 2005 at 11:43 AM Report Share Posted October 24, 2005 at 11:43 AM There's a great little program called "MemChinese" which is excellent for learning stroke order.
Mike Posted October 24, 2005 at 11:56 AM Report Share Posted October 24, 2005 at 11:56 AM Had a go with the trial version at MemChinese. Looks really good but not much functionality on the trial version. Need to buy the thing - $34.95 for download.
Desmond Posted October 24, 2005 at 05:03 PM Author Report Share Posted October 24, 2005 at 05:03 PM Awesome, thanks! I tried zhongwen.com and it has the stroke order I was looking for. I'm downloading the trial of the program as I'm writing this, and maybe that will be another helpful resource.
stephanhodges Posted October 24, 2005 at 06:21 PM Report Share Posted October 24, 2005 at 06:21 PM Euroasia also has a free online stroke order database at http://www.mandarinteacher.com/dictionary/
laohu489 Posted October 24, 2005 at 11:02 PM Report Share Posted October 24, 2005 at 11:02 PM MDBG free online Chinese-English dictionary probably has what you need. It does not give the rules for stroke order or the names of the strokes but it gives the order for each simplified character. Unfortunately it is lacking traditional if that is what you need. But next to each character, is a brush icon, a magnifing glass and a google.com "G". Click on the brush and a flash type animation starts up showing the *exact* stroke order, including start position and direction. Hope this helps.
