Ronan wrote (in the seventies): "... the Taoist temple set in beauiful gardens at Kunming where, after ascending through the lower halls with their various images, one comes at last to an empty hall where there is nothing but a large tablet inscribed: Wan Wu Zhi Mu (the Mother of All Things)."
