Or would you prefer the following (with 那儿 added)? and why? 我小的时候就从你们那儿听到不少南京的故事 ( I'd like to know if the above versions are both acceptable. '从' is a preposition shows the starting point of time or movement. As in the sentence aforementioned, '那儿' shows the position which cannot be depicted by '你们'. I ain't able to explain it.From what chenpv said above, I imagine there may be some rule like this: 从 requires a time- or place-word as its complement; and since 你们 is not a place word, so we need to add 那儿 to make it one: 你们那儿To test my "mini theory" above, can someone please confirm if the following Chinese sentence sounds OK?: "I heard it from her!" = 我从她那儿听到了!
