There is also another way to use it... 会 can also be used as "will", right? Then is this sentence correct? 我明年的夏天会去中国！ I'm self-concious about this sentence... so I've been avoiding it... Instead, I have been saying... 我明年的夏天才能去中国！ This has more of a "finally" kind of tone to it, but does it work? Thank you all for your patience! Then is this sentence correct?我明年的夏天会去中国！ Yes, it's correct.我明年(的)夏天会去中国！ 我明年的夏天才能去中国 literally meaning I will be able to go to China till next summer. When you use....才能....., it means you will be able to do something when some condition exists. For examples: 我要有空才能去. I will be able to go when I am free. 你不要一直講話, 我才能專心. If you don't talk nonstop, I can be able to focus. 如果你一直用功自學, 你才能越來越上手. If you keep self studying hard, you'll be able to get better hang of it. * Compare: 如果你一直用功自學, 你會越來越上手. It will probably appear in a letter or in acting dialogues. Funny! If someone said that to me face to face, I might probably burst out laughing, thinking s/he is making a joke. Just a thought.
