I have never lived or worked at a People Commune. But when PRC started to open its door in late '70s, People Commune and Martyr's Memorial Park were must-see on the itinerary of any tour group. So I had a chance to visit the People Commune. For me, the visit to People Commune was a refreshing experience. Other than tolerating the 2-hour BS from the local party secretary and sightseeing those model farms and orchards, the meal they offered us was cooked in country style and absolutely without any MSG.
