Are they almost the same? 'to be tarred with the same brush' and 'to tar somebody with the same brush'. I don't think they are. Can it (tar somebody with the same brush) translated as 'ㄧ竿子打翻一船人'? According to the definition of Cambridge International Dictionary of Idioms, it means 'to believe wrongly that someone or something has the same bad qualities as someone or something that is similar.' Can you come up with another chinese equivalents? By the way, where to find a good reference book about english idioms translated to chinese equivalents? Thanks!
