Short-term Accomodation in Beijing

Hello,

In a two weeks time I'll be going to Bejing with a friend, for a two months internship (en March, April and May). We will be working in the Dongcheng District and we need to find a flat for both of us (2 rooms). Any tips? Areas where we can find something?

We have never been in China before and we only have 2 weeks to organise all this.

Thank you for any advice you may give us.

Have a look at the roomate/flat to let ads in That's Beijing...

The Red House hostel is on the edge of dongcheng, and has suites. List price is high if you want separate rooms, but this time of year i imagine you could get a big discount...

Might also be worth having a look at wuwoo. Apart from maybe the (horrible expensive) serviced apartments, i imagine they want 6m minimum contracts. But if you can't find somewhere for a 2 months stay, it might even be worth renting somewhere for 6 months then subletting it when you go (passing on as much of the hefty real estate agents fee as you can)...

Yeah, two months is difficult unless you can either put up with a hotel / hostel for that long or can afford a service-type apartment. If you get lucky you might find a shared flat for that period of time, but it's not often they come up. Landlords are generally looking for at least 6 months. Keep a close eye on thatsbj.com and do put your own ad up, but I'd recommend having a back-up plan.

To be honest, whoever your internship is with should at least be offering advice. What do they have to say?

:help

We cannot afford to pay a hotel/hostel for two months. We would like to pay up to 300$ (I still don't know how much that exactly is in RMB) between the two of us.

How much does a service-type apartment cost per month? Where can we find more ads?

The company has told us that they are going to do their best to help us, but they haven't promised anything.

Thanks!!!
