rrobertscv Posted July 30, 2006 at 03:15 AM Report Share Posted July 30, 2006 at 03:15 AM I am new to this forum and am searching for information on this item, I am a militaria collector and came across this today, any help would be appreciated. This came from the estate of a 91 year old lady here in the town where I live. Before she died, she said her husband picked it up while he was overseas in the military, 60-70 years ago. Could someone please tell me what it is, what it says and what its value might be? Thanks for any help at all.
semantic nuance Posted July 30, 2006 at 05:55 AM Report Share Posted July 30, 2006 at 05:55 AM 2. 勝利-victory 3. 蔣--Chinese surname Hope it helps!
889 Posted July 30, 2006 at 11:43 AM Report Share Posted July 30, 2006 at 11:43 AM Well, 蔣 is not just any Chinese surname. It's Jiang as in Jiang Jieshi, more commonly known as Chiang Kai-shek. So this looks like a victory talisman. Not that it did much good.
kudra Posted July 31, 2006 at 02:09 AM Report Share Posted July 31, 2006 at 02:09 AM @ rrobertscv can you give us a close up of the writing in the box. I can make out AHMONG, and Shanghai China. The rest might give more clues.
Raye Zhang Posted July 31, 2006 at 02:11 AM Report Share Posted July 31, 2006 at 02:11 AM it looks like a model of traditional Chinese coin, Spring & Autume or Qin Dynasty. from the print in the box cover, it should be made in Shanghai province. Raye Zhang Posted August 1, 2006 at 05:02 AM Report Share Posted August 1, 2006 at 05:02 AM Shanghai,China 海Tel****上------------上海=Shanghai,a famous province in China 製光仲豪---------------it must be red from the right to the left "豪仲光製", 豪仲光 is a company`s name,製 means MAKE,so these four letters say that [this coin is made by 豪仲光 Company]
skylee Posted August 1, 2006 at 08:13 AM Report Share Posted August 1, 2006 at 08:13 AM Considering the "Ah Mong", could it be 蒙 instead of 豪 ?
Raye Zhang Posted August 3, 2006 at 03:36 AM Report Share Posted August 3, 2006 at 03:36 AM i cannot see it clearly, perhaps it is 蒙. but the meanning of 蒙is not so nice for a company name,豪 is often found in names:wink:
