Have you seen such shorthand before? ma3zi1, it seems to me that these circulars/ minutes keep telling people to type up their scripts. Why aren't these records typed? I think it is because most of the employees immigrated to the U.S. before a good typing system for Chinese was developed and disseminated for widespread use. As a consequence, most of them cannot type in Chinese at all. This is especially true of the Taiwanese immigrants who only learned 注音 and therefore cannot understand how to type with 拼音, even if they can type in English passably well. For example, I am the only person in the office who uses 雙拼 to type, which is why I was designated with this task. I must say I am learning a lot about hand-written Chinese though!
