MESSAGE OF HOPE

I BELIEVE I CAN FLY

WHAT ABOUT YOU????????????????

If you have not given up till now, please don't give up now.

Last year I fizzled out very quickly because I saw the ice berg which my application was going to hit.

However, I note that anyone who is still hanging in is not waiting in vain.

WAIT WITH GRACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MY VISA APPLICATION PROCESS IS COMPLETED. It will be picked up at Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria on August 4. A friend will post it to the University of Nigeria where I stay.

Hi everyone! I haven't posted at all on this thread but uhhhh..... kind of stalked this thread for the last week or so.

1) What is your native country? USA
2) Where did you apply? Washington, DC
3) When did you apply? last week of March, it was really close to the deadline so I FedEx'd it like 3 days before it was due (risky I know, but I was desperately waiting for my HSK results to come in so I could include them)
4) When was the deadline? April 1st
5) Have you applied for the scholarship before? Yes
6) What program did you apply for? MA program
7) What schools did you put for your preferences? (1) Xiamen University, (2) Beijing International Studies University, (3) East China Normal University
8 ) Did you apply for your school of choice beforehand? I applied after I got a letter from the embassy to ask for preadmission into Xiamen but I guess it didn't go well because they responded with 'thank you' and never sent me the letter.
9) What agency number did you use? 8401
10) Where did you get your physical done? Local Physician
11) How did you get your documents notarized? At a notary republic in my moms work building. honestly I don't think you're supposed to, the lady seemed a bit wtf but in the end just stamped and signed the documents for me.
12) Were you accepted for the scholarship, if you were not then why? Yes.
13) How were you notified? Email from embassy.
14) When were you accepted/rejected? July 27
15) What school and program were you accepted to? Beijing International Studies University for 1 year Language studies + Translation

I'm a little sad I didn't get accepted to Xiamen but I'm still excited to have the opportunity to return to China. I didn't apply for the addition of the language studies  but was just given it. I think that's good... I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't studied much in the last 4 months XD

My friend who isn't on this forums also applied, she was originally wait-listed and not given any of the emails I received until I told her to email Chen Li to ask about her application. Ms. Li explained to her that all applications (even wait listed ones) are sent at the same time to China and if there's room they get admission. My friend was given her top university choice so the moral of the story is that just because you don't get an email from the embassy doesn't mean you didn't get the scholarship!

I received the email from Chen Li of the Chinese Embassy in Washington, DC this morning announcing official results for U.S. citizens. Attached to that email was a seven-page Microsoft Word document listing awardees.

Warm regards,

I also received the official letter from CHEN Li today. My name is on the list!!!  It's finally been official, even though I already found out I won the scholarship awhile ago, its just nice to see my name on the *official* list.

@Chris Two Times It's nice to hear you are back in the states!! How did you recover from Jet Lag when you first arrived in China? My Chinese teacher told me when she just returned to China a couple of weeks ago it took her 10 DAYS to recover!!  :(  :(  :(  :(

and Congratulations on Tsinghua!!

@Alex Hart

You are totally right. I received an email FINALLY from the ZheDa saying that I could only move into the dorm Sept 8. It looks like I'm officially leaving the states Sept 7th then! Thank you for all the suggestions and information. It was very helpful!! It looks like I'll have a couple of days just like you to adjust before class begins      I'm praying Lord help me I adjust quickly!!! Since I'm a language student I might have some of those homework free weekends...I definitely plan on doing a lot of traveling in China.

BTW If I arrived at 6pm on Sept 8, would someone still be around to move me into the dorm?

Question:

I'd also like to get a multiple-entry visa. I want to visit other asian countries and want to make sure I can get back into China no problem... any suggestions/ideas?  :D

I called the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Mexico, I am NOT in the list....

But I also applied to MOFCOM scholarship through the Embassy, so I want to think I was not accepted in the bilateral scholarship because I will get the MOFCOM scholarship.. I should remain optimistic.

btw, I prefer the MOFCOM scholarship for so many reasons, but I am kind of disappointed with today's news and I have no idea when will I get the other results.

I've just been accepted for the full undergraduate scholarship at Wuhan University of Technology! I'm taking an English-taught program, but they still gave me a year of preparatory language study. Is there any way that I can get straight to my program instead of taking an initial year of Chinese? I would just take Chinese language courses in addition to my program.

Too bad to hear that. Me and other Mexican applicants have also tried to know the results, but the Ministry doesn't want to tell the result and said we have to wait for a week to get an email. How did you ask them?
