weiwuji Posted August 2, 2015 at 08:12 AM Report Share Posted August 2, 2015 at 08:12 AM @lambilyforever thanks! i will contact them tomorrow. @kursat you will not be asked for any penalty since this is a scholarship. it's just that the opportunity that was given to you will be canceled. although, this may be used as a basis for decision if you would wish to reapply again in the future. @moh wait for the scholarship documents then apply for the X Visa, book your ticket, contact your University and tell them when you will be arriving (OR if you will be arriving later than the student registration period), @wahunei you could try using Youdao or Baidu translator for basic Chinese words, then send them an email to ask for their price (if you are planning to live off-campus) also for the lodging, it actually will depend on the decision of the College of International Studies of your University. Some Uni allow their student to live off-campus. Some don't. Better ask and negotiate with the dorm manager of that Uni. @antoinette you may try contacting your accepting university's international college for their process.

knikkiboo Posted August 3, 2015 at 07:08 PM Report Share Posted August 3, 2015 at 07:08 PM Email from mr duncun.the oas have not released the results as yet thats what i was told "The official results have not yet been published because we are now awaiting final results and possibly a second round of selected students from the China Scholarship Council. It means that the China Scholarship Council may offer more scholarships than what was initially allocated. Hence, this means that the pre-selected candidates still have a chance of being selected in the second round, which we hope to have more information on soon from CSC. David Ma Posted August 3, 2015 at 07:29 PM Report Share Posted August 3, 2015 at 07:29 PM 1) What is your native country? United States 2) Where did you apply? Chinese Embassy in Washington D.C. 3) When did you apply? 30 March (barely got it in in time) 4) When was the deadline? 30 March 5) Have you applied for the scholarship before? Yes and won 1-year language last year 6) What program did you apply for? Chinese Language 7) What schools did you put for your preferences? Xiamen University 8 ) Did you apply for your school of choice beforehand? I submitted my entire application to XMU's admission department as well as sent it into the US Embassy in DC 9) What agency number did you use? The one for Xiamen University 10) Where did you get your physical done? Family Physician 11) Did you get your documents notarized? Nope, second year in a row with no notarization 12) Were you accepted for the scholarship, if you were not then why? Yes!! 13) Did you receive any university admission letters (prior to receiving a scholarship)? No 14) How were you notified? The Chinese Embassy in DC sent an email asking for my mailing address 15) When were you accepted/rejected? July 27th 16) What school and program were you accepted to? Xiamen University 1-Year Chinese Language Program (2nd year) 17) Laihua status? Forgot my password. Haven't checked it since I submitted the online application. Previous year results seem to show that this status is completely irrelevant to success or failure. I was notified less than two weeks after submitting my application with a Candidacy award. I can't say what really changed this year. Last summer I was on a wait list and barely got awarded the scholarship. This year, I applied even later past the deadline but did use the XMU agency number, had a letter of rec from an XMU faculty, and submitted an additional copy to XMU admissions. Congrats to everyone who was successful this year! If it's your first time traveling to China, you're in for quite a ride! Best of luck!

lambilyforever Posted August 4, 2015 at 04:10 AM Report Share Posted August 4, 2015 at 04:10 AM So I just came back from the Consulate to process my Chinese VISA application. they want me back tomorrow for an interview. Is this normal (that they request for an interview)? Anyone familiar about this. Is there any chance that scholarship winners may not be granted a VISA? Thanks. Yussuf Amour Posted August 4, 2015 at 04:51 AM Report Share Posted August 4, 2015 at 04:51 AM @lambilyforever: I have never heard about interview. I have friends of mine studying in Shandong and one at Beijing, they got CSC in AY 2014/15, No interview held. But why do they have to interview you while you have already got the Scholarship? They were supposed to interview applicants after submission of their materials. Anyway, wish you all the best
